Nominations for this year’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) County Committee Elections are needed by August 1st.
County Committees are a vital link between the farm community and FSA. They provide an opportunity for farmers to have their opinions and ideas be heard. All eligible farmers are encouraged to participate in the election process by nominating candidates by the August 1stdeadline.
To be eligible to serve on an FSA County Committee a person must participate or cooperate in any program administered by FSA, they must be eligible to vote in the election and they must reside in one of the townships in which the election is occurring.
In Manitowoc County this year’s election is being held for the townships of Cooperstown, Gibson, Kossuth, Mishicot, Two Creeks and Two Rivers.
In Calumet County this year’s election is being held for the townships of Chilton, Rantoul and Stockbridge.
Farmers may nominate themselves or others interested in running, and organizations representing minorities and women may also nominate candidates. To become a nominee, eligible individuals must sign the nomination form, the FSA-669A.

Nomination forms for the 2018 election must be postmarked or received at the applicable FSA office by close of business on August 1st. FSA will mail ballots to producers beginning in early November and the newly elected committee member and alternates will take office on January 1st for a three-year term.
