An ailing father has played a part in the decision by former Verona basketball standout Alex Luehring to transfer to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Luehring will appeal to the N-C-A-A for a family hardship waiver after leaving the U-W-Green Bay Phoenix. Her father was diagnosed last year with stage-four kidney cancer. Luehring red-shirted in Green Bay last season. She’s a six-foot-two forward who would be the sixth member of an incoming freshman class for coach Jonathan Tsipis. If the waiver is granted, she could play immediately.
