Backup catcher Bryan Holaday made the Miami Marlins a winner with a walk-off single in the 10th inning of a 4-3 game Monday night. Holaday came into that game hitting just .165 before knocking in the run that beat Milwaukee. The normaly lights out Josh Hader had an off night, allowing back to back homeruns to give up a 2-1 lead in the 7th. Manager Craig Counsell was asked why hader wasn’t sharp.
Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar hit his league-leading 23rd home run of the season in the fourth inning. Travis Shaw tied the score with a two-out R-B-I in the eighth. Milwaukee closer Corey Knebel took the loss. Counsell said that Knebel just kept missing.
Jhoulys Chacin is the Brewer starter for Tuesday’s game in South Florida. Lefty Wade Miley is expected to be activated later this week for a Thursday start in Pittsburgh.
