A Manitowoc man will be spending four years in prison after being found guilty of delivering the heroin that killed a 48 year old Manitowoc woman in 2016. 40 year old James Cartwright was charged with reckless homicide, but during the settlement the charge was changed to two felony counts of delivering heroin. The attorney for Cartwright, Edmund Jelinski argued that Cartwright was not the primary cause for the woman’s death, and asked for a more lenient prison sentence. Cartwright reportedly stated that he was remorseful for the death. The sentence has Cartwright spending four years in prison, followed by four years on extended supervision.
