Defending champion Katherine Kirk got off to a hot start at the Thornberry Creek LPGA classic in Oneida today. She shot a career record 10 under par 62, giving her a one-shot lead over Sei Young Kim midway through the first round. Kirk’s previous career best round was 63, which she shot in the same tournament last year. Kim shot six birdies in a row on the back nine on the way to a 63 for the day.
