“It wasn’t the outcome we were hoping for as a team….but they’ve created lasting memories and still have a day of competition left.” Those are the words of Todd Hadler, one of the coaches of a Manitowoc Select 12-and-under baseball team competing in a national tournament in Elizabethtown, Kentucky since last Friday.
Manitowoc blanked Belle River Ontario 12-nothing yesterday morning, before coming right back and facing Louisiana Empire of Bossier City, Louisiana the next game. The Lakeshore team had a 3-0 advantage at one point before falling 8-to-3 to the 2nd seeded squad in the 10-team championship bracket.
Hadler told us in an email early this morning that “all the boys will try to get the best time in an around-the-horn competition.” Gavin Lettenberger competes in the Home-Run-Derby, and 3-boys: Lucas Siebold, Brayden Steinbecker & Brady Hadler play in an All-Star game this evening. The trio was selected by opposing coaches and will represent the Junior Ships 12-&-under team. The coach says they’re so proud of the boys with their effort & attitude and the Manitowoc community should be proud of them too.
