A fire yesterday at the Susie Q Fish Market in Two Rivers caused extensive damage but no injuries. Firefighters were dispatched to the 1810 East Street location shortly before 8:30am where Heavy smoke was coming from the structure, which consists of multiple, connected buildings. A fire crew entered the wood-framed smokehouse and encountered flames and smoke. The ‘fire’ was quickly extinguished there but personnel had to deal with more smoke and flames in the store-front area of the market in an area located above the smokehouse. Crews created ventilation holes in the roof & in 2nd floor interior rooms to gain access to smoldering hot-spots in the building. All fire was extinguished and ventilation of the entire structure was completed prior to salvage & overhaul operations. The fire did begin in the smokehouse and an estimated dollar loss is not yet available. Two Rivers Firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Town of Two Rivers & Mishicot Fire Department & Ambulance and the last crew left the market just before Noon.
