The Manitowoc American Legion varsity baseball team picked up a ‘walk-off’ victory at Municipal Field last night. Legion Post-88 edged Sheboygan 3-to-2 as Jared Lensmeyer delivered the game winning single in the bottom of the 7th inning. The base hit scored Ethan Jagemann, who began the rally with a single. Manitowoc had rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the previous inning, scoring its runs on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout by Adam Diedrich. Korey Garceau had 2 hits to lead the offense, while Trent Van Ess picked up the win in relief with 2-scoreless innings. Starting pitcher Alex Kahlenber worked the first 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 earned runs, with 2 walks & 3 strikeouts. Manager Kevin Stangel’s squad will now compete in the Marinette Tournament starting tomorrow.
