Rookie right-hander Freddy Peralta allowed just one hit and a walk in seven shutout innings as the Milwaukee Brewers beat Kansas City 5-1 Tuesday. Peralta struck out 10 while picking up his third career victory. Manager Craig Counsell called Peralta’s performance outstanding.
Peralta loved his Miller Park debut.
Christian Yelich compared the rookie sensation to another pitching sensation, the late Jose Fernandex, whom Yelich played with in Miami.
Christian Yelich got the Brewers offense rolling in the bottom of the first inning when he faced Jakob Junis after a 1-out double by Ryan Braun.
Braun, and Jesus Aguilar also supported Peralta by blasting home runs. Yelich spojke about his bomb.
Josh Hader got the final out and picked up his seventh save of the season. Brent Suter starts Wednesday’s series finale while looking for his ninth victory. He will be facing off against fellow lefty Danny Duffy, who has struggled this season. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:35 on 1240 AM WOMT.
The Brewers also placed Lorenzo Cain on the 10-day disabled list with a groin strain before the game yesterday, calling up Keon Broxton.
