The University of Wisconsin-Manitowoc campus has announced the hiring of its new Men’s Head Basketball Coach. Chuck Nelson has been named to take over the reins of the Blue Devils’ program, according to Athletic Director Neil Hall. Nelson is a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School where he played under Hall-of-Fame coach Brian Shaw. For the past 2-seasons, he’s been the Head Basketball Coach of the Random Lake ‘Rams’, while serving as a Special Education Teacher at the High school. His teaching & Coaching career began in the Manitowoc Public School District in the Mid-1990’s.
Coach Nelson plans on conducting a ‘Blue Devils Basketball Open Gym/Meet & Greet next Sunday, July 1st from 6-to-9pm at the UW-Manitowoc Fieldhouse. All incoming, potential and returning Students who are interested in playing men’s basketball next season are welcome to attend. Hall indicated that parents & high school coaches are also welcome to be at the event, which will include: Campus tours, a Q-&-A with Athletic Director/Academic Advisor, a meet-and-greet session with the new coach and his assistants, information about student housing, financial aid and the UW-Manitowoc application/enrollment process and pick-up basketball games. The Blue Devils compete in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference.
