It is that time of year again. Time for everyone to bundle up, and go pick out a Christmas tree. Some people will go to the woods, or to a tree farm, but there are several places that will sell trees in parking lots. One of those is HP Enterprises Christmas Tree Lots. The man who runs the lots, Tim Becker, told us he has “…a little bit of everything. We have Frazier’s, Balsam, some Canins, White Pine, Black Hills Spruce, and Colorado Blue Spruce.” Becker buys his trees from a grower in Rib Mountain, and got his start helping his dad’s friend. He said, “Years ago when I was a kid, a guy my dad knew ran a bar and he had sold Christmas trees in the back lot. I went out there that one season and helped out a little bit, and ever since then I wanted to, and three years ago was my first year opening up a lot.” In his words his prices “starts at $25, and we even have some cut offs that go for $12,” and he has “…two 14 footers that should go for about $150.Twining and giving the truck a fresh cut are all included in the tag prices. Becker is running two lots this year, on is located on Custer Street, right across the road from Roorbach Flowers, and the other is in the Piggly Wiggly Parking lot on the Northside.
