An Illinois man is due back in court Monday on 23 charges in a Kenosha County crime spree that included the brutal beatings of an elderly couple. A judge has set bond at one-million dollars for 52-year-old Daniel Evans of Waukegan (waw kee’gn). Prosecutors say he barged into a house in Somers October 27th and attacked a man and wife in their 80s and shot the man twice in his back — and both are recovering. Officials say Evans was arrested following a high-speed chase about one week later in a car stolen in an earlier break in — and the day before the home invasion, he reportedly broke into another house and stole a gun. Evans’ charges include attempted homicide, armed burglary, reckless endangerment, and intimidation.
