Residents of Appleton are able to see the Doughboy statue standing again on Memorial Drive. The statue of a WWI infantryman was erected in 1934, and had been undergoing restorations for the past 30 years, before it was taken down in July, to be replaced with a new memorial. There will be a rededication ceremony on Veterans Day, November 11th, to give the monument its new designation as a World War I Centennial Monument. The original statue will go on display at the History Museum at the Castle in Appleton.
